2018 Conference Overview

The Pension Lawyers Association is delighted to invite you to register to attend its 23rd annual conference to be held from Sunday 25th to Tuesday 27th February 2018 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

It has been a year of significant legislative change for retirement funds – the Financial Sector Regulation Act embeds the long-awaited twin peaks regulatory model, the Default investment, preservation and annuitisation regulations have become law and parts of the Protection of Personal Information Act have come into force.  At the same time as having to adapt to new legislation, funds are grappling with issues arising from existing legislation: how to cram umbrella funds into the glass slipper that is the Pension Funds Act; whether there is sufficient protection in the Pension Funds Act for whistleblowers; and how to get delinquent employers to contribute.  Then there are the existential issues of cybercrime and the looming threat of a Government desperately in need of the kind of capital that pension funds hold.

We have assembled many of the pre–eminent practitioners in the field of pensions law and beyond who, through their high quality analysis, practical guidance and thought leadership, will guide you through the most topical legal issues in the retirement funds space.

We invite you to take advantage of early bird registration for the conference, which runs until 14th December 2017. The full conference fees will apply to registrations after that date.
